Choosing your First Snowmobile – How to Snowmobile, Season 2

Christmas came early for me this year as just before the holidays I went and picked up my first snowmobile! So what type of sled did I get? Well, it was a difficult question for a new rider like myself to answer as there are many things to consider when trying to find that “best first snowmobile.” The most important thing I learned is that there really is no “best first snowmobile”, it will all depend on what you’ll be using it for. A first time sledder from a mountain town in BC is going to need something quite different than a beginner from the prairies.

Once we decided what I was going to be using the sled for, and my experience with snowmobiles in general, the choice was pretty obvious. So if you’re someone in my position, and shopping around for your first snowmobile, I’d recommend that you talk with either a professional or someone you trust who has riding experience in order to narrow down what it is you need.¬†Once you’ve got that figured out you just need to decide on which brand is right for you. I figured that seeing as everyone in Saskatchewan bleeds green already, it only made sense to check out an Arctic Cat dealership.
So grab yourself an eggnog as we’ll be talking with Gerry from Proline Motorsports & Marine in Saskatoon about some of the different types of snowmobiles a rider should consider.
